Eastern Promise in Marbella East

People who have chosen to make this fabulous stretch of coast their home tend to pay more attention to the western San Pedro-Golden Mile section of Marbella than the eastern side of the city. This is a major oversight, since this part of the Costa del Sol provides everything that anyone could possibly need for a fantastic life.

Firstly, the sought after area of Elviria provides all the amenities you could need with regard to banks, supermarkets, boutiques, a spa, beauty outlets, cafés and restaurants. This is a convenient and friendly place to sort out your financial affairs, pick up some groceries, have your hair and nails done, and enjoy a cup of coffee in peaceful and relaxed surroundings.

If Elviria doesn’t provide everything that you need you should make your way to La Cañada. This huge shopping centre, built on the scale of an American mall, really does have it all, from a branch of French home improvements giant Leroy Merlin to fashion retailers such as H&M, Hugo Boss, Zara, Mango and Marks & Spencer. There are numerous places to eat too, from traditional Andalusian outlets to fast food giants like Burger King, McDonald’s and KFC. You can easily while away a very pleasant day looking at all the shops in air-conditioned comfort, a major consideration during July and August.

However, it’s during the summer that this lovely coastal strip really comes into its own, as locals and visitors alike make their way to the area’s beaches. Funny Beach is a reliable family favourite because it offers activities like karting and flyboarding apart from the usual seaside attractions. Sophisticated couples will perhaps be more inclined to head for Nikki Beach, where a combination of sumptuous sun-beds, a gorgeous poolside area and fantastic cuisine makes for a sinfully indulgent day beside the sea. This venue is also famous for its fashion shows and lively parties, so be prepared to be entertained. 

Cabopino has deservedly gained a reputation as a great place for a day out. Apart from its beach, which always proves a popular destination, its marina is rather quieter and more compact than Puerto Banús, Benalmádena and some of the other more renowned ports. Like them, however, it also offers a wide range of places to eat and enjoy a quiet tinto de verano.

The old saying claims that west is best but, in the case of Marbella, east has plenty to offer too!
